A Couple of Snaps From Christmas

Just a couple of snap shots to share from my phone.  We didn't put much effort into photographs this Christmas, though we had hoped to.  We had hoped to hire a professional photographer for the 26th, but since Kimberley had to leave early that morning we canceled that
idea.  So we just hastily took a few shots with Mom's iPad and my iPhone.  The lighting was poor, and so the results weren't all that good.

These two shots were just sitting on my iPhone, and as you see I was just focused on the current state of our sailor's uniforms.

This will probably be the last time anyone will see Kim in uniform, as she intends to separate this December and become a silly-villian.

The top shot was posed by Kim, as she resisted the more traditional left shoulder shot used throughout the Navy, because for the enlisted, everything is worn on the left. As opposed to other services where grades are worn on both sleeves.

Kim is wearing a four year hash mark on the forearm, and this is the first time we see Mike as a second class, and with his new dolphins in dress blue.

The fact was that Mike didn't have his second class crow on his dress blues when he packed his uniform, and it wasn't until just before Christmas Mass, that my mother quickly tacked on the second class crow in just under ten minutes.   It served for the evening, but I hope Mike has put his uniform into the tailor's to get it done more securely - I doubt it would pass a real inspection.  None the less, thanks to Mom, it served for the night.

So come December, it looks like will have to go down to two stars on the service flag.
